I was planning on writing a blog about Rob Bell and Mars Hill Church and hold it against Hillcrest Church to see where they both stand. When pondering what I was going to say about Rob Bell and his church two verses came to mind, 2 timothy 4:1-5 (verse talks about false teachers and how to watch out for them) and Matthew 7:1-5 (Do not judge one another, we are all human and we all have flaws) So upon deeper thought I decided to write a blog about what I believe. So here it goes:
I believe that there is only one true God.
I believe in the Trinity that He is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
I believe that the Old Testament and New Testament is the Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness”)
I believe that God speaks to us through his word, through instances, sometimes dreams, and through music.
I believe that God created the world in 6 days and that He rested on the 7th day
(Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”)
I believe that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin
(Luke 1:34-35 says, “How will this be,” Mary asks the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God”)
I believe that every human is born a sinner and is destined for hell and that the only way to escape hell is to repent and confess our sins to God and to accept him as our Savior.
(Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;
I believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven (John 14:6 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life No one comes to the Father except through me.”)
I believe that Jesus came to earth to live a perfect sinless life so that He could be the ultimate sacrifice, He died so that we don’t have to die. Once we physically die our souls will still live and be eternally with God. His death made a “bridge” to God so that we could have a relationship through Jesus. Jesus connected us to the Father.
I believe that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, was resurrected 3 days later, and is alive today.
So that’s what I believe. I pray for wisdom and knowledge in discernment to know the difference from truth and false teachings.
